ChatGPT Adds to Narrative

It was interesting, I have been messing around with ChatGPT and decided to see what it would do with one of my narrative mission reports of a mission with my Raven Guard and Tom’s Drukhari. You should read the mission report from April 2021, Dire Reports at Portus Lemanis Quake Site, before reading what ChatGPT gave me.

The aftermath of the battle was haunting. The swirling malevolent fog still lingered, as did the oppressive stillness. The dead and wounded were collected and loaded onto the Thunderhawks. Brother-Librarian Ordus and his accompanying squad were finally able to join up with the remainder of the patrol. Their mission had been a disaster.

As they lifted off from the quake site, Brother-Librarian Ordus was already planning his revenge. The Drukhari would pay dearly for what they had done. The captured brothers would be rescued, and the Archon and Haemoculus would feel the full wrath of the Raven Guard. The memories of their fallen brothers would be avenged.

The Corvo Mortis finally came through on the vox, informing them that they were able to track the Drukhari forces as they fled the sector. Brother-Librarian Ordus smiled grimly, knowing that the hunt would soon begin. It was time for the Raven Guard to show the xenos the true meaning of terror.

As they made their way back to their base, Brother-Librarian Ordus could not help but feel a sense of grim determination. They would not rest until they had avenged their fallen battle brothers and rescued the prisoners. The Drukhari had dared to cross the Raven Guard, and they would pay for their mistake. The hunt was on.

Install Monitors at Portus Lemanis Quake Site

With Lieutenant Torovac still tied up in the command planning sessions, Brother Ordos was assigned to take monitoring devices down to the Portus Lemanis quake site so that the tech-priests could get better readings in order to study the phenomena caused by the Necron monoliths. Each unit was to carry one self contained device and place it in the ruins, as close to the monoliths as possible. Two monitors per monolith is all that is required, but placing redundant devices is preferred. Once placed, they are to regroup and head for the extraction point.

Disappointing SAR at Portus Lemanis Quake Site

The Search and Rescue (SAR) at the Portus Lemanis quake site wasn’t a complete disaster, but it did fail to find any of the missing Battle Brothers from the previous mission.

On the flight back to the Corvo Mortis, Brother Librarian Ordus was in a dark mood. Darker than usual, and that is dark. “He will work through it.” thought Uirroth, as he glanced up from his work of tending to the wounded. Brother Apothecary Uirroth Sixx, was worried about his Battle Brother, he knew how much pressure that Ordus put on himself. Pressure to make this mission a success, but it was more than that. Uirroth knew that Brother Librarian Ordus had made a pledge to do everything in his power to get Brother Lieutenant Torovac back from his dwelling on the battle of ambush and siege by the Warp Ghosts in the Espandor system. Now add to that the loss of the forces in the Drukhari ambush and subsequent failure to retrieve the fallen Brothers, Sixx was worried that it may be too much for the normally dour Brother Ordus.

Search and Rescue at Portus Lemanis Quake Site

Before the Swift Deliverer had even touched down on the deck of the Corvo Mortis’ Landing Bay 4, Brother-Librarian Ordo had already initiated the Disembark Litany. Klaxons were sounding the warning that the ramp was lowering while the transport was still in the air. Having practiced this thousands of time, Ordos was stepping on the Motis‘ deck at the same time that the Swift Deliverer had settled on its struts.

To the servitors and support personnel he barked, “See to the men, they need to be rearmed, repaired and ready to back in 2 hours!”

He continued heading straight to Quartermaster to requisition jump packs for another squad of Vanguard Vets. The Swift Deliverer was refueled by the time by the time Squad Shaan arrived on deck. It was less than 2 hours before they were on their way back to the quake site.

Brother-Librarian Ordos was even more brooding and ominous than usual on the trip back down to the site. Unable to rely on vox and auspex, a lesson hard learned from the last disastrous encounter at the site, units arriving on station would regroup in the center, where they could protect each other’s flanks.

Dire Reports at Portus Lemanis Quake Site

As Brother-Librarian Ordos and company approached quake site their auspex readings and communication with the Corvo Mortis became more and more unreliable. Ordos had experienced something similar on the rescue mission at Manufactorum Kappa-90. This was different though, more concentrated, more malevolent. They were still 2 Kliks out and the interference was stronger than at Manufactorum Kappa-90.

“Corvo Mortis, this is Ordos. Do you copy….”

“This …. Moris …. breaking up.” came the reply.

“We are still 2 Kilks out, arrange extraction at AO in 2 standard Terran Hours. Expect total comms black out at AO.”

“Copy….. black out… ” dies in static.

“Mortis, say again.”

“Copy….. black out… AO. Extract…. 2 STH…. at AO.” dies once more in static.

Brother Ordos swapped to the mission channel.

“We are on our own from hear on out. Extraction will be at the AO in 2 STH, so we had better get going.” With that, they all double timed to the AO. The closer they got to the quake site, the more their auspex and vox channels became more unreliable.

Hive City Portus Lemanis Quake

Still assigned the Ramasus system in the Eastern front of the Nephilum Sector, the Raven Guard battle barge Corvo Mortis (The Raven of Death) was patrolling near the 3rd planet, Ramasus III. After a heavy quakes near the Western fringe of Hive City Portus Lemanis, the Corvo Mortis’ augur data registered a strange phenomena in Hab-Block 306 sector. The reading only lasted for a short time before massive interference made readings impossible. With Lt Torovac indisposed, Brother Ordus was given a secret mission to make planetfall and investigate.

Power Spike

Lieutenant Torovac was notified that orbital scans had detected a huge power surge, in a mechanicus warehouse district in the outskirts of Hive C3H-482. A small force, so as to not attract attention, will be inserted to take control of the psycho-reactive mechanisms for study. If it looks like they will fall into enemy hands they are to be destroyed. Lieutenant Torovac, thinking that this would be an easy mission tasked Sgt Ordane’s Tactical squad, Sgt Kyphon’s Infiltrators, Sgt Rushal’s Eliminators, and Sgt Kyrolius’ Suppressors for overwatch.

They were set down two sectors away and began to move South through the rubble to the AO. Squad Kyphon taking point arrived first, looks like the Xenos Drukhari had beat them to the objectives. Squad Rushal managed to get up onto the second level gangways for the central structure undetected to keep watch on the mechanism at the West end of the complex, designated Objective 2 (O2). Squad Kyphon took up position in some ruins directly North of O2. Squad Kyrolius, switching their jet packs to stealth mode, jumped to the top of the central structure taking overwatch on Objective 1 (O1) on the East end of the complex. Squad Ordane and LT Torovac took up a position behind some cargo continers directly North of O1. Kyrolius reported a xenos transport tucked in the ruins at O1, while Rushal reported some xenos jet bikes tucked behind cargo containers near O2. Umbro Redemptio hunkered down and waited to see what the xenos would do.

Rescue at Promethium Well 82

The distress call came from the 125th Lions of Kiavahr, they were being overrun by Xenos – Drukhri! Lieutenant Torovac was rerouted to Promethium Well 82, no chance to enjoy the total routing of the Beil-tan at COP Vance! At least their were no casualties the Brother Apothecary Sixx couldn’t deal with en route. The intel was thin, the 125th had set up Command and Control (C2) in the Southwest corner of the complex, behind some cargo containers. The Promethium Well 82 was drilled through a rocky out cropping with the complex arrayed around the out cropping. To the East of the well, connected by a raised pipeline, was the refining station. To the North of that were some more cargo containers that would need to be examined. Immediately to the North of the cargo containers designated C2, was a holding station and its large gangways that would allow a decent view of the whole complex spreading out to the East of it.

Revenge at COP 1348 (Vance)

COP 1348 – Vance

The Xenos Beil-tan where tracked to the abandoned COP 1348. When active, COP 1348 was a military science lab studying the strange, unknown energy field that bisected the base. Why the base was abandoned is a mystery, as much in this Emperor accursed system. Two things that Lieutenant Torovac knew for sure was that the Xenos would not learn anything from the science station and that they would pay for what they did to the 125th Lions.

Lieutenant Torovac took Brother Librarian Ordus, Sgt Tev’s squad of Intecessors, Sgt Tyris’ Tactical Marines, “the Reapers” (Sgt Sorlynus’ Veteran Intercessors), Sgt Korvaedyn in his Tactical Warsuit, Brother Apothecary Sixx, and Sgt Ort’s Eradicators.

The Hunt – COP 1348 (Vance)

When Umbra Redemptio heard that Reconn Lux had been ambushed and nearly wiped out, they all became very silent. It was as though a dark storm had suddenly formed overhead in the mess hall. Almost as one, Lieutenant Torovoc’s men set their feast gear on the table and rose as one unit…. on very determined and menacing unit. Though the Scions of the 125th Lions of Kiavahr where not Space Marines, they were Kiavahans and soldiers from the Forsarr Sector, and therefore under the protection of the Chapter. This upstart band of Xenos would pay for this! They had gotten off lightly the other times they met in combat, but not this time.

The Biel-tan had been traced to the abandoned Combat Outpost 1348 (known as Vance), some 135 Klics North of Hive C3H-482, where they ambused the 125th. Cover wouldn’t be as dense as in the Hive City, there would be no ruins, but there would be derelict fortifications and trenches, and bomb craters to provide some cover. COP Vance was set up to study an ancient, linear earthworks which appeared to coincide with an eerie curtain of power running for miles. It may have been this curtain of power that drew the Xenos to the COP; it didn’t matter to Lux, they would not leave.
